Great rants from you guys last time! I know I'll get my 100th review for this one, and I'm so excited! Keep up the great work!
Crystal Rain: No no, "yami" means dark, and "Yugi" means game. "Hikari" means light.
Seashell: First of all, Sea Cucumber is a cool name for a dark side! Now...
Check the last rant for Malik's past. Isis is his sister, and she has the Tauk,
which can see a short distance into the future. She's a little like Seto,
personality-wise, from what I hear. Ans Shadi's the guardian of the Millennium
Items, who has both the Ankh (key) and Scales. (shameless plug: Go read my other
story, Three In One Combo to see more of the Items, especially Shadi, Ankh, and
Scale!)
In the theme song when their eyes pulse, that shows deep feeling. It's a
commonly used anime device.
I don't think Mai's skirt would fly up. Have you
seen how tight it is!? Tea's, maybe.
That reminds me... If anyone could give me some information about Malik and Isis's personalities, it would help me GREATLY!!! I'm trying to write about them, and I really don't know them at all!
SalAmanda: I don't think they'd use Will Friedel (sp?) as a voice actor for
Malik or anyone else. They have their pool of anime voice actors, and they just
use those over and over again. He's an American voice actor, or just actor.
And
I had noticed Yami Malik's lack of pupils. Pupil size shows innocence. Cute,
innocent Yugi and Ryou have big pupils. It makes sense that Yami Malik wouldn't
have any!
Psycho Bakura: Thanks for telling me! Announcement: For all you who get Cartoon
Network and don't know about this yet, Yu-Gi-Oh is now showing on Cartoon
Network at 9:30 eastern, 8:30 central time. Last week was packed for me, but I
hope to watch it more often this week!
No, I don't think they'll cancel Yu-Gi-Oh
like they did to Cardcaptors. They mangled Cardcaptor Sakura into "Cardcaptors,"
changing a girl's anime into what might appeal to boys more, and it really
wasn't very popular overall. Besides, I think they got about to the end. But
Yu-Gi-Oh is the most popular anime on TV right now (I think), so getting rid of
it would lose them a LOT of money! So I don't think we have to worry about that.
And those hooded guys were chanting: "Realm of Shadows, in this twilight hour,
accept these souls, and grant us power."
Unrealistic: Wow that's a long rant! I'm proud! About the voice actors, I've
seen so many listed for so many characters, I think they've changed them a lot.
So all you people who told me conflicting actors, you're probably all right.
I
thought the "Duel of Screams" would be a popularity battle until Yugi lost. I
can believe that Jackie Chan Adventures might be more popular than Pokemon, but
it couldn't be more than Yu-Gi-Oh, their current top show.
I know, I heard
Bakura would be back in Battle City to play a much bigger role! I'm so excited!
I miss him so much!
Angel-Belle: I think the reason Seto tested his game himself was a matter of
pride. He made it, designed it, etc. He was eager to be the first to try it out.
Wouldn't you be? After all, despite what he'd like us to think, he's still
human.
The guy who gave Joey the pig costume did remind me of Jabba the Hut.
JaguarKitty2006: No, I very much doubt that Kaiba actually believed the Big 5. He obviously knew they were working with Pegasus. He told them so. But he was just REALLY excited about his game being finished, so he wanted to see that first.
Anubis: I loved all those scenes in the VR game when they were asking around the
town about Seto. I think they were mostly for comic relief! I can see Yugi
getting thrown out of a tavern, etc. I also didn't miss the irony of Joey being
attacked by a dog!
I don't know why Adina was in the maze. The obvious answer is
because it was part of the game, but I'd say Seto has some gaping plot-holes in
his game!
I suspect the Big 5 are still around, waiting for their chance to
cause more trouble.
Rayemars: Oh, I'll bet Seto was about ready to kill Yugi and his friends after the ride back from Duelist Kingdom! But that's not why he hates them. He hated them way before that. He's just like that.
LeoBubbleGum: In the dub anyway, I don't think they ever mention where anyone's from, or where things are going on. I might be wrong, they might have said that Keith was the top American duelist at one point. But I think they just leave the less enlightened people to guess, or assume it's a different world, or it could be anywhere.
Yuki Chan: Hmm... Well, Rebecca's only redeeming quality was that she only lasted two episodes. So if she'd leave, I'll leave her alone. But if both of them were staying, I think I'd lock them both in a closet together and let them rip each other apart. I'm not one for violence myself, but I don't mind watching people like that go at it.
Silvara Maxwell: Lots of people seemed to have noticed Seto's slashy undertones
when he told Mokuba, "You know how I feel about Yugi Motou." I agree!
I remember
the dubbers were going to make Malik female for a while, but then they couldn't
because of his back. That'll be a real dilemma for them! I'm curious to see what
they do with it. And I'm sure they'll switch Yugi saying "Jou, I love you" to
something like "Joey, you're my friend." Bleh.
And now my rants:
- Cecelia has big hair!
- Rex said he couldn't believe Mai agreed to duel him just for beating Joey "as Rex." It makes him sound like he's not really Rex. What were those stupid dubbers thinking?
- Rex is described as a bad guy, but he plays, as Yugi would say, "with honor." His strategy is pure beatdown, no tricks. Not a very good strategy, but honorable if nothing else.
- Isn't it amazing how everybody gets exactly the card they want, when they want it, whether or not they believe in the heart of the cards? Kinda undermines Yugi's whole ideology, doesn't it?
- If Bakura had waited for Yugi to put the Magician of Faith on the field before playing Just Desserts, he would have won.
- The Dark Magician Girl looks a lot like Cecelia.
- Must... resist... urge to rant about non Yu-Gi-Oh shows! But now that I'm in the habit, it's hard to not do it!
- What dragons' heads were on the Mystic Dragon in Seto's game? I recognize the Darkfire Dragon, and maybe a Metal Dragon, but what are the others?
- The little fairy in Seto's game (the Key Mace) looks cute in Yugi's hair!
- It was so cool how the Dark Magician saved Yugi on the flying bird-ship. It was too bad the fairy had to die first, though.
- Of the people whose names were changed, do any seem to suit them especially well? I think Joey, Rex, Weevil, and Mako have good ones, but I don't know about the others. Although of course, anything's better than Terrence...
- Just after Joey was destroyed when they fought the Mythic Dragon, Yugi was suddenly a lot bigger than the other for a second. Not closer, just bigger.
- I hope you've all learned your lesson from Yugi and Seto: If you don't listen to Yami, you lose, and people die or lose their souls!! So there!
- Does time pass in the Shadow Realm the same way it does in the real world?
- Yami's a bit too melodramatic. Yami Bakura can be too, at times.
- The Black Luster Soldier reminds me of D from Vampire Hunter D.
- It's so wrong to hear Adina's voice coming from the Mystical Elf!
- Why is every random opponent so against Yugi? He never did anything to them!
- One of Otogi's (Duke's) cheerleaders is really ugly! Not that I'm stunningly beautiful myself, but yuck!
- The dueling arena Joey and Otogi used was really in Kaiba Land. Not that it matters, it just was.
- Everybody calls Joey the second best duelist. Wouldn't that be Pegasus, since no one but Yugi could beat him?
- Otogi's cute, but he's a bit too full of himself for my taste.
- Cartoon Network's Yu-Gi-Oh commercial calls Seto "a new player." He's NOT! WHAT IDIOCY!! (yep, still bitter from missing that episode and a half!)
- Remember that "Orange Happy Juice" Yu-Gi-Oh commercial? I found cans of Korean "hapi" brand orange drink at Schnucks (a supermarket)! It's pretty good! Very pulpy. A bit bitter, though.
- When Keith traps Yugi's group underground, Tea and Bakura both take the "girls' role" of standing by watching while the others push the rock! Ah, Bakura's so cute...
- In the first Paradox Brothers episode, you see Yami Yugi's eye before he takes over.
- Yami said he'd be honored to have Joey duel with him against Para and Dox. Who else could he pick? None of the others are official duelists, and Bakura's the only one who seems to do any dueling there. And I know Yami wouldn't work with him.
- Do the Paradox brothers rhyme in Japanese?
- How many legs does the Shadow Ghoul have? Two? Four? Five?
- When Dox laid Jirai Gumo on the field, I noticed that its attack and defense points were both wrong!
- Seto claims he has to watch out for Pegasus's goons on the way to rescue Mokuba, yet he walks out in the open, not paying much attention to his surroundings.
- The Dark Magician did an enormous flip in the Paradox brothers' maze! He must be watching them too much!
- Para's voice is completely wrong for his face. Not as bad as some I've heard, though. Listen to Xellos's icky dub voice in Slayers... Bleh. So wrong.
- Para and Dox have very thick necks!
- I was told that Para has six fingers. I looked for the sixth one, but I didn't see it!
- When Joey told his Flame Swordsman to advance five spaces in the maze, it only moved three!
- When the Dungeon Worm went after the Celtic Guardian in the maze, Joey's voice yelled, "No! My Celtic Guardian!"
- Yugi said the Gate Guardian was in the same class as Exodia. That's just ridiculous. It's strong, but not unbeatable.
- In the second Paradox brothers episode, what happened to the Axe Raider?
- The first time Yugi played Silver Fang, it was green!
- I wonder why Pegasus chose to take Yugi's grandpa instead of one of the others? If only he'd taken Tea...
- The thunder part of the Gate Guardian has the kanji character for rain on it. Kinda weird, but they do go together.
- Are you allowed to revive your opponent's monster to your own side like Yugi did with Para and Dox's Suijin?
- Lots of voices were pretty bad in the early episodes, especially Tristan's! He's got a great singing voice on the CD, though.
- Croquet has a creepy voice.
- Pegasus is so funny when he's pretending to be hopelessly losing!
- Did you see Seto's face when he thought Yugi might beat him at Pegasus's castle? Or when Pegasus took his first Blue-Eyes White Dragon? That just wasn't a good day for him.
- I can't believe they're not repeating the last 2 new episodes on Thursdays and Fridays anymore! I'm gonna have to wait forever to see the first two Dungeon Dice Masters episodes now!
- Has anyone else gotten the American "Music to Duel By" CD yet? I got it last night. It's okay, but probably not worth all the money I paid for it! Pegasus's song is really fun. As I said, Tristan's singing voice is great... except that his song is a duet with Tea! Bleh!
- I like Joey's "anti-Otogi" sign!
- Do you think Seto would get along with Otogi, or say that he had no origional ideas of his own, from the dog suit to using Duel Monsters in his dice game?
- So, Yugi's grandpa is a pervert... You saw the way he looked at those cheerleaders? Yeah, those hearts in his eyes weren't for the TVs! Lots of old anime men are like that.
- Joey does make a good puppy.
- What did Joey call Otogi in the last episode (I think)? A blow-hog? Huh?
- Did you see how Yami changed the dice roll with the "heart of the dice"?
- It took Yami a really long time to figure out how to beat Otogi. I thought of a way a whole episode before he did! Not the same way, but it probably would have still worked.
- I'll just comment again on the general coolness of the Dark Magician. Eeee!!
- What's that on Otogi's pendant?
- Otogi has a long nose...
- Noooo!!! Must stop Yugi from the evil friendship rants!
- The Dark Magician's probably the quietest monster in the game. He doesn't make a sound when he's summoned or when he attacks. In the Japanese version, he actually has a voice!
Endnote: As usual, leave lots of nice long reviews! Sorry about my TV problems. It annoys me ten times more than it annoys you, I'm sure! And as usual, go read my other stories! And please send any personality information on Malik and Isis you know! Thank you! ^_^
