Shadi: Indigo really does not own Yu-Gi-Oh, so if she attempts to convince you that she does, pay her no mind…
Lori Kimaya: Yeah, Malik’s English voice really bothers me too. I wonder how he’ll sound when he’s being nice! Heh, how can you SOUND like a hottie? ^_^ Hotness is at least mostly visual! But he does sound a lot better in Japanese!
Yep, I got that issue of Shonen Jump! I ranted about it too, one or two rants ago.
Eh, I guess they figured that Esper Roba already looked so feminine with his pale hair and pink shirt that they didn’t want him getting too sentimental… Which is just idiotic, if you ask me!
YES! Yami is at LEAST as evil as anyone else out there!
Oh by Ra… Poor Yami Bakura… They’re changing his Ouija (I can’t spell that) board to a Destiny board, and “DEATH” to “FINAL”? That’s terrible! Rrg, I hate the dubbers!!
Ayrrie: …Yeah. ^_^ To pretty much everything!
Lady Kalan Kaiba of Conte: Well my DVDs came form Hong Kong, and it’s obvious that the subtitlers didn’t speak Japanese OR English very well! Hopefully their Chinese subtitles are at least more coherent!
Well I know they can’t shield kids from death forever, but they also don’t want loads of angry parents calling them (or even suing them) because their children are afraid of getting their legs chopped off, or falling through a glass ceiling, or something else that can’t be explained as imaginary!
Oh, my DVDs’ picture quality is pretty good! I haven’t had any problems with that at all. But yeah, sometimes they translate the names either literally (Sea Horse and Wooden Horse) or they use the dub names (Tea, Wheeler, and Taylor)…
Yep, Simon’s in the manga too. He was the Pharaoh’s advisor, and he was reincarnated into Yuugi’s grandpa.
Heh, yeah, well everyone has their own taste in characters! I try to give them all a chance, but there are some who I don’t like anyway.
Toby KiKami: Yeah, I think you’re right about Bonz’s eyes. They still looked weird, though.
I think you did a pretty good job with Ankh and Scale. Don’t worry about limp insults, mine are sometimes like that too.
Heh, I would think Keith would rather have Seven Tools of the Bandit! But maybe Malik gave him Solemn Judgment instead.
Heh, I never thought of that before, but you’re right! How about Anzu Mazaki, the Legendary Swordsman? ^_^
David: I don’t know if the God Cards have those numbers on them… I’m pretty sure they haven’t been released in America yet, though. Who knows, though… Anyone out there know what numbers are on the God Cards, in the lower left-hand corner?
David #2: Ha, well I never claimed that this was the best website around. I make it for my own pleasure, not to please other people, though I’m always happy to be able to do that too. I’ve found plenty of great Yu-Gi-Oh pictures, but since you’re not a close friend or anything, I won’t e-mail them to you. Sorry. I’m not a picture-finding service… ^_^
Crossover Authoress: Yeah, that’s so cool how the Silent Doll can stay still for so long!
Heh, I’ll be an Exodia-muse would have a scary voice!
Hm, yeah, I think that if your Ka is female, you should be too. But I can imagine at least one of the Blue-Eyes White Dragons being female! There were four, after all. Maybe that woman wasn’t the only one to have a Ka like that.
I think Yu-Gi-Oh and Kingdom Hearts would splice into a good crossover! Heh, yay for Pegasus-muse! He has the support of your other muses! You’ll NEVER get rid of him now! ^_^ And that’s good, because we don’t want homeless muses wandering around!
I’ve heard about that game. It sounds cool, though I don’t think anyone’s quite sure why they decided to mix a Japanese/Egyptian themed game/anime with a British war… Though who knows, the Shadi from there probably IS Scottish! Or more likely Welsh. If he’s going to be British, he seems like he’d be from Wales. ^_^ Aw, poor Seto never gets an incarnation to just relax and be a bum, does he?
I know when they’re trapped in Noa Kaiba’s game-thing, Yami’s “deck master” monster is Kuriboh… but I haven’t heard about what his Ka is. Where did you hear that? Because that would be very interesting. ^_^
Oh, when Seto was sealed in a card by Yami in Shonen Jump, it was like Pegasus’s soul cards. It showed Seto, who looked scared and in pain. And it said “SETO KAIBA.” It didn’t show his attack and defense points, though.
I think Anzu should have been the last one up the rope too, but they wanted to be able to catch her if she fell. Bakura was the one right behind her though. Heh, I’d trust him more than Honda, too!
Oh, when Yami faced Mai, he was dueling badly because Yuugi wasn’t helping him. He was just sitting in his soul room not supporting Yami at all, so apparently that meant that Yami couldn’t duel very well.
Yami Mariko: Well don’t feel too bad… I sent in my subscription to Shonen Jump in the middle of January, and it just came at the end of March.
Oh Yu-Gi-Oh won’t end for a long time! It’s still being made in Japan, and they’re way ahead of us. They’re up to more than 150 episodes by now. And they haven’t even started going into Yami’s memory world yet, like they’re doing in the manga! I’m not sure how long it’ll last, but I would think for at least a couple more years. Or more if they take so long to give us a single new episode… But yeah, I‘m expecting a bittersweet ending. The Japanese really put a lot of emphasis on long, sad endings.
Amiasha: Ha, you’re right! Well I guess they don’t want the rabid fangirls to revolt from seeing ugly guys too often… ^_^
Heh, I like Mako too. BECAUSE he’s odd. ^_^
Yeah, even in the Japanese version, they say “Blue-Eyes White Dragon” in English. I’m convinced that the people who subtitled my DVDs only spoke a little Japanese OR English. I think they’re from Hong Kong… So who knows about that!
Ah, you’re right about the Dark Magician Girl’s first appearance. I watched again and saw that her first attack was really a counterattack. ^_^
Yuugi’s dream was a lot creepier in the original version.
Ha, “4bakas”! I like that! ^_^ Yep, they like to give things their own names…
Blah, how dare they give Canada reruns and not us!? Grr, not fair! Now I want to move to Canada! …No I don’t, it’s far too cold there. ^_^
Yami Nikki: Okay, okay, I reviewed “The Origin”! Happy?
Hm, I have the Blackland Fire Dragon in Forbidden Memories, and its attack is only 1500. But that game isn’t the most accurate!
Ha, well I imagine most of the voice actors slip sometimes! ^_^ I think it’s disturbing when I recognize one voice from another anime! Like all those people Eric Stuart voices!
JaguarKitty2006: Ah, that’s great when trips out of town are well-placed during weekends of reruns!
I got my DVDs on ebay, but animeniacs.com has them for a good price. That’s where I’ll be going to get the next box-set when it comes out.
Heh, yep, Honda and Jounouchi are just as goofy in the Japanese version. Sometimes more! Though not as dumb… Although Anzu does call them “Idiots 1 and 2” a couple times. ^_^
Ha, but the funny part is, that wasn’t Jou’s idea… Yami managed to tell him how to get the Puzzle out of the wall. Ack, it seems that Jou isn’t as smart as we had hoped!
Ooh, you too? I get to go home on May 10, but school ends about a week before that, aside form exams. I think I only have one, though. ^_^
Anime*2000: Hm, well I always get the impression that even in the manga, Yami’s just a little taller than Yuugi… But they could easily be the same height!
Yeah, Bakura’s hair was most of the way down his back in the episodes where Yuugi dueled Keith. Then when Jounouchi went to duel Mako in Battle City, his hair was way up above his shoulders!
Well, “Kujaku” (her real last name) means “Phoenix.” If you (or anyone else) have ever seen the anime “Fushigi Yuugi” (“Mysterious Play” in English), the Phoenix god was called “Suzaku.” Pretty close!
Gah, I hate those stupid commercials… Though the thought of Yami Yuugi getting “orange happy juice” spilled on his cards, or getting buried in Duel Monsters was pretty funny… ^_^
I know these rants seem a bit random and all over the place in terms of what I‘m ranting about, but they should be a little more coherent next week!
- Ooh, Yuugi gets 60% of Pegasus's company for beating him, which they say practically makes him the CEO.
- Heh, the "Red Archery Girl" has no shirt, foolish dubbers! She just has two seashells on.
- Ah, "Doppleganger" (Copy Cat) is even cuter in Japanese! There's a different picture and funny music! And Pegasus calls him a "naughty kitty!"
- There was a nice little scene where Yuugi and Yami discussed how to block the Millennium Eye that the dubbers cut. Yuugi actually called Yami into his mind to talk to him.
- The concept of two Yuugis completely threw Jounouchi for a loop. ^_^
- AWW! The Man-Eater Bug has SUCH a cute Japanese voice!
- Heh, Kaiba threatened to strangle Pegasus with that black ribbon-thing around his neck!
- "Jigen Bakudan" (Pegasus's bomb-card) means "time bomb," but Pegasus calls it "Time Bomber" in English!
- I love the Magician of Black Chaos's hat! ^_^
- The Multiply card looks kind of like a Gengar (the Pokemon).
- EEE! Just before they start reading Pegasus's diary, the eyes of Shadi's portrait flash!
- Shadi has a very soft Japanese voice... almost gentle when he first meets Pegasus, though that changed when Pegasus followed him home.
- Pegasus's blood almost glowed, it was so bright flowing from his eye!
- Yami Yuugi's mind-labyrinth was actually a game of darkness for Shadi. Ha, that'll teach a guardian to ask a simple question! And Yuugi asked Yami to stop it when he pulled Shadi up out of that hole.
- Rrg, Shadi's voice has a habit of trailing off at the end of sentences...
- And Shadi says he hasn't told anyone his name before Yuugi, but Pegasus knew it in a flashback later on.
- Eee, Bakura looks so demented when he licks the Millennium Eye! But no blood, how disappointing!
- Wow, they said Rebecca was twelve! She looks much younger!
- Hey, Arthur Hopkins (Rebecca's grandfather) discovered the God Cards too! He sais that whoever got all three would "replace Ra as ruler of the world."
- The Big Five made Duel Monsters Quest, and bet that if Kaiba lost, they wouldn't be fired...
- It seems that making Kaiba Land for children has been Seto's dream for a while.
- The virtual princess doesn't really have an annoying voice! Yay!
- If Yami keeps coming out whenever Yuugi has a conflict or problem, Yuugi will never learn to deal with things on his own!
- I thought calling Dungeon Dice Monsters "DDM" was just something lazy fans picked up. But everyone calls it that, even Otogi!
- Heh, poor Yuugi's mom is convinced that he's talking to himself. ^_^
- Keith smashed the Puzzle of his own accord, not because Malik make him! Keith thought IT was controlling him. Malik just wanted to draw Yami into battle, not destroy the Puzzle!
- HA! Yami Yuugi told Jounouchi how to get the Puzzle off the wall in that burning warehouse! He didn't figure it out on his own!
- Honda has pointy eyebrows.
- Yami Yuugi was wiped from Egyptian history, according to Isis. His name was never recorded. But why, if he did such great things? There must be more to the story.
- Isis said she had complete trust in Kaiba... no foreseeing about it.
- Aw... Yami promised to stay with Yuugi forever, no matter what! And Yuugi offered his own memories to Yami, since he didn't have his own.
- Ack, Step Johnny didn't just want a date with Anzu, he wanted to spend the night with her! Nastiness all around!
- Heh, Step Johnny challenged Yami Yuugi to defeat his "attack of 400 and above." What a loser!
- Mokuba wasn't telling his brother to stop dueling the duel-bot, he was confident in Seto!
- The Duelist Kingdom tournament was really set to last only 2 days.
- My subtitles keep calling the Rare Hunter's Exodia "Black Magician"!
- And the Rare Hunter's Exodia cards look different from Yuugi's. I know they're fake, but wouldn't they look the same anyway?
- Remember Pandora's creepy doll monster? It seems to be called "Baby Killer." ^_^ But little murderer or killer of babies, is the question!
- Ooh, Pandora's Black Magician growled at him when he gave his power tot he Black Magician Girl.
- Pandora never realized that his girlfriend was a mannequin, Malik made him see the real thing.
- Malik's family isn't allowed to have any contact with the outside world, or have any desires. They're basically slaves to protecting the Pharaoh's memory. THAT is is motive. He's just trying to end this suffering and wrongness, not only for himself, but for his whole family, Isis included.
- Yami actually tried to hide what he found at the museum from Yuugi to protect him and stop him from worrying.
- Apparently, when Yami regains his memories, he has to leave Yuugi. Oh well, there goes his promise to always stay with him. ^_^
- Yami Bakura imitated Ryou much better in the Japanese version. Either that or Ryou spoke himself, working with his Yami.
- Yami Yuugi yells a lot less in the Japanese version!
- I'll bet Silent Doll gets really sick of people waving hands in front of his face and telling him to move.
- Yami called using the Rod to control people "abusing its power." But that's just what it does!
- Isis never said anything about Bakura being evil, she just said "there he is." Rrg, quit trying to impose evil on Yami Bakura and Malik and Pegasus and them, dubbers!
- Apparently Silent Doll had a lot of suffering before, and is emotionless now, according to Malik.
- In the Silent Doll/Yuugi duel, Malik talked a lot about water, how it changes to match its vessel (he was talking about his strategy, but think of the other implications for that, with the yamis and their vessels!), and how it can be an invisible shield...
- Do you ever just feel like telling some of the characters, "It's not THAT funny!"? I do!
- Mokuba likes to stick his finger across his nose!
- Osiris's attack blasted the Black Magician Girl's hat off!
- Would things have been different if Malik had used Ra against Yuugi instead of Osiris?
- Have you ever seen the fusion of Black Magician and Buster Blader? It's so cool-looking! I've seen it on tins on ebay.
- Even though Yuugi used Brain Control on Revival Slime, shouldn't that eternal defense thing only work for Malik?
- Mokuba didn't really try to comfort Silent Doll when he fell to his knees, he just said he seemed like a puppet and was probably in pain.
- It seems like most, if not all, magic and trap cards are useless against God Cards.
- Bakura says he needs the evil power hidden in the dark... He didn't say why, though.
- Ooh, Malik can glow purple OR pink!
- Aw, Anzu has a little Kuriboh on her phone!
- The Ghouls sure wear some interesting clothes, masks, etc. under their robes.
- Heh, too bad you can't sacrifice your opponent's monster to bring out a stronger one of your own, without something like Brain COntrol!
- Isis sent Seto to set up Battle City because she, like Malik, wants to end the 3000-year conflict. But in a different way, of course. She means for the Pharaoh to win, no matter what.
- I wonder if Pandora's Black Magician really spoke, or if it was a recording.
- Oh, so when the Rare Hunter uses Swords of Revealing Light it’s a weak shield, but when Yuugi uses it, it’s a brilliant strategy…?
- Everyone sounds so much older in the dub!
- When the Rare Hunter was defeated, he was actually wondering if he would be punished (I think he knew he would be) and begging for someone to help him. So of course Yami, who probably COULD have helped, stood there and waited to see what happened… I’m seeing a pattern here!
- Heh, in the Japanese version when Malik first takes over the Rare Hunter’s body, he makes the Rare Hunter twist in all kinds of weird positions and even do a flip-like things to demonstrate his control over him.
- I love it, Yuugi and Joey talk about defeating their enemies together, and working together and facing everything together... right before walking off in opposite directions. ^_^
