Scale: *looks slightly disappointed* Indigo owns some really crappy Yu-Gi-Oh DVDs, and they all work… But don’t think you can get any money if you sue her, because she’s so poor, she’d ask roaches for handouts!
Blackheart745: Ah, well you see, Malik has a very good voice in the Japanese version. And Pegasus’s Japanese voice is even MORE sing-songy. I think it’s cute. ^_^
Lady Kalan Kaiba of Conte: Blah, being sick’s no fun. I’m taking a whole class on Japanese culture this semester, and I love it!
Ha, the weather’s always like that where I live! ^_^
Eee, really? I’d love it if they kept calling Malik “Namu” when he acts nice! And I can’t wait to hear his nice voice. He sounds really nice in the Japanese version too, from what little I saw.
Toby KiKami: Ack, I know… Every time I learn that the real story goes differently from what I’ve written, I feel horrible. But… if all you do is stick to the story, there’s only so much that your own creativity can do with that.
Heh, I can’t think of anyone who plays to lose. ^_^ Except Ryou Bakura occasionally, when he thinks it’s the right thing to do.
I’m not sure… Those lines under the red Dark Magician’s eyes are either tattoos or scars, I would think.
You know, you have a very strange idea of what’s annoying! I like your reviews, they’re fun! ^_^
Cherryblossom: No, don’t worry, Malik is just Marik…. Or “Merrick,” as they pronounce it… From what I’ve heard, Canada’s version is pretty close to America’s.
Wingleader Sora Jade: Oh, that wasn’t enough? Hmm… Well I agree that Seto’s a bit too power-hungry for his own good. But you have to understand, he will do what he has to. And sacrificing all his dragons to Obelisk is perfectly acceptable to him. It seems like he doesn’t care about them anymore, but I think he does… He understands that their energy makes his God Card strong, and I think he appreciates it. Actually, when he duels Isis, she sees a vision of her victory, but he changes that by sacrificing Obelisk to a Blue-Eyes White Dragon! He’ll do anything to keep his brother safe, and the more power he has, the more likely he is to be able to keep Mokuba safe.
Eee, cool! I have an English Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon… ^_^ Cute little rabid gerbil-thing!
Heh, yeah, everyone looks slightly different in the early manga/first season. Isn’t Yuugi cute in it? Aw… And Jounochi looks cool too, yeah. ^_^
I’m getting more used to Ryou’s Japanese voice too. It’s nice and cute. ^_^ But his British voice is nice for a dub voice.
Schala85: Heh, I thought Malik looked a little silly with the helmet on at first too. But he took it off, so all is well. And we don’t want Malik to break his head open just because he’s looking AMAZINGLY cool….
I think my favorite non Yu-Gi-Oh manga in Shonen Jump are Shaman King and Naruto… I like most of the others too, though!
Crossover Authoress: Ah, lucky you! You’ll still get new episodes for a while, and I think the dumb Americans gave up for the moment…
Well I’m sure Priest-Seto had his reasons for being nasty too. Probably a brother again. And the pressures of being a high priest and taking over a kingdom can be stressful, I’m sure.
…An Exodia muse? That’s rare. But then so are Shadi-muses. ^_^ What’s your Exodia-muse like?
Heh, I was obsessed with getting a PS2 since before it came out. And I finally got one at the end of last summer. I LOVE my nice PS2. I even named it, though I rarely call it by name. It’s called “Makkura,” which means “pitch dark” and just sounds cool.
Oh, and you’re in luck! It seems that Amiasha has the Pandora episodes taped, and she seems willing to type scripts for you. So talk to her if you haven’t already.
Amiasha: Yeah, apparently the Eye’s priest was Priest Seto’s father, but is reincarnated in Malik and Isis’s father. And Priestess Isis is reincarnated in Isis, like Priest Seto is in Seto. And Priest Shadah either didn’t die and became Shadi later in life, or died and was reincarnated in Shadi. I guess Priest Seto just got to be a high priest because he was very powerful…
Ooh, I know! Maybe the red Dark Magician is Mahaado’s ancient arch-nemesis! ^_^
You know, my Shonen Jump subscription did the same thing! But it sent me January, March, and May! Good thing I had the others anyway…
Don’t trust what the dub characters call any monster attacks! They can’t even be expected to remember the monster names, or even who owns them! Incompetent fools…
Hm, I guess Malik might have run out of gas some time. But not often, I’m sure. He’s too careful for that.
JaguarKitty2006: Heh, before I faced the hard opponents in Forbidden Memories, I used my Celtic Guardian a lot… And he smiled at me when I did. ^_^
Hee hee, I love the villains with longish pale hair…
Ack no, painting your face is one thing, but CARVING it would HURT! I have only respect for Rishid and his ability to have perfect handwriting when carving all over his face.
Ayrrie: I think that’s a law of many anime and video games. The antagonists are always either amazingly beautiful (especially the males) or incredibly ugly.
Wel, Bandit Keith’s cross isn’t crucifying anyone…
…Or maybe Mako’s father DID die, and his soul is now in the Legendary Fisherman! That’s what I think!
Ak Star: Actually, it was proven that Bakura is a good person! Or he at least has a good Ka (spirit energy-monster). I don’t know about Yami yet, though… I have an image of the end of the series… I can see Yami trying to take over the world, and Yuugi thinking that it wasn’t a good idea… Then the two would duel, and Yuugi would win. Yami would see that Yuugi could manage on his own, and he himself really died long ago. So he would disappear, all the Millennium Items would break, and the world would be safe. Yay! A bittersweet ending, as the Japanese are fond of.
Anime*2000: Yeah, I think Mako’s laugh sounds fake sometimes too. Even his whole dubbed voice a lot of the time. But he’s still pretty cool!
Yep, sudden wind = dramatic scene!
I’ve heard something about Tea using the Dark Magician Girl! I guess either she has her own or Yuugi let her use his for that battle…
Well think about it, if you had a mortal enemy who could destroy your mind whenever he wanted, wouldn’t you have other people try to wear him down first? Don’t worry, Yami Yuugi and Malik will have their battle later…
Sure, Mako will find his father! But either we won’t see it, or it’ll be part of a big “this is the end of the series and everyone is happy (except the ones who are dead)” episode.
StarryNIghts: Oh I don’t mind Ryou having a female voice actor. I think it suits him, and certain others. But there’s something slightly creepy just behind the soft tone…
Yeah, I like Rishid a lot too… But as soon as he passes out, Yami Malik comes out and takes over…
Oh I imagine that Yami Bakura spent a lot of time after his defeat improving his skills so he could beat Yami Yuugi next time.
I don’t know, I think Yami Bakura’s voice keeps getting older and rougher. And deeper.
Yami Nikki: Yeah, I know you have a new author-name… And I’ve read “The Mysterious Child 2” under that name. But when I go to your profile, it only lists that one and the first one. I don’t see “The Origin.”
Yeah, they mess up the eyes a lot! But eyes are hard to get exactly right…
Yay, lots this week! This‘ll either be lots of fun or a huge pain for all of you who like to say something about everything! ^_^
- Ha,Yuugi doesn't really shout "Yu-Gi-Oh" or anything else when he transforms! Good, because that's dumb!
- Did you know that some religious fundamentalists think that that "happy friendship hand-face" is an evil symbol? Annoying, yes. But not evil! Come on, fools...
- It's funny to see the subtitles say "Green-Eyed White Dragon" when I can hear people saying "blue."
- I think Yuugi's mom only shows up in the date episode (not even there in the dub). Where is she the rest of the time?
- Ha, on the boat off Duelist Kingdom, Weevil was telling that other duelist to help, not refusing to row!
- Pegasus's computer's password was really "Alcatraz," not "Pegasus." The dubbers are really out to get them all...
- Eee, my Shonen Jump subscription finally came! ^_^ I thought they forgot about me! But again for the May edition, the covers are identical...
- Kaiba was so excited when his monsters came to life for the first time, with no holograms or anything!
- Eep, if I saw an apparition of Grandpa over a Blue-Eyes, I'd be scared!
- Poor dragon... it sacrificed itself rather than hurt its master's grandson.
- Ack! Yami Yuugi sealed Kaiba in a card! And then he gets so mad when Pegasus did the same thing! At least Pegasus was trying to get power to revive his wife! Yami Yuugi was just doing it for revenge on Kaiba!
- Heh, but poor Seto was only a level one monster...
- Yami Yuugi took off the Puzzle to set up his electrifying trap against Jonouchi's old gang... Can he do that and still possess Yuugi's body?
- Tea's voice is actually not too far from her Japanese voice. Of course, as usual, the Japanese voice is better. ^_^
- I think everyone's eyes shrank a bit after Duelist Kingdom.
- Hee hee, the Time Wizard has a cute Japanese voice! And it really says "Time Magic"!
- Oh, if you want to know anything specific about the Japanese version, just ask! The subtitles leave much to be desired, but I'll do my best. Don't ask for scripts though, because I don't have THAT much free time, and the subtitles make it a bit incoherent. (Although if I really like you, I'll do the best I can!)
- As far as I can tell, the fake Kaiba wasn't Seto's dark side. He was just some guy Pegasus hired.
- They subtitle Mai's name into "Phoenix" or "Miss Nix" a lot. Or sometimes various things having to do with dance.
- They call Honda "Pentan." And Bakura (for some odd reason) is usually called "Muleung." Or "Mo." Or even "Mulan." ^_^
- When Yami Yuugi and Bakura have their first duel, Bakura keeps saying he's "discarding" the cards he plays. But then they also call Jounochi "Sugoroku" in those episodes, so I don't trust it.
- And everyone talks less! Especially Bakura and Kaiba!
- There was too much shine on Pandora's "Mystical Guillotine." Bad dubbers!
- Where does Pandora live/work? And does Malik make a habit of wandering around there at night?
- Guess what! Shadi will be in the June Shonen Jump! Eee, I can't wait! ^_^ That'll be so cool! And there shall be much scanning of Shadi pictures that day!
- The Player Killer (Panik) vs. Yami Yuugi episodes were actually very interesting. It was very much a duel of words, and there was a lot of symbolism about darkness and light.
- In the first Player Killer episode, Bakura was watching Yuugi very carefully, occasionally commenting on Yuugi's darkness talk. I'm sure that both Ryou and Yami Bakura were watching and reflecting on all of this. Though it was Ryou who spoke most of the time, because he called Yuugi "Yuugi-kun."
- The kanji character on the Castle of Dark Illusions (and on the Player Killer's hat) means "darkness."
- Yami Yuugi says a lot less "oblivion" and a lot more "Mind Crush" or just "Huah!" in the Japanese version.
- Aw... Ghost Kotsuzuka (I think that's it... Bonz, anyway) is so CUTE in Japanese!
- And he and Keith's other two flunkies call Keith "big brother," at least in the bad subtitles. If they're really calling him that, it sounds like "Onii-kun" or something of the sort.
- My, that's quite a short skirt the Axe Raider wears...
- When Keith beat up his henchmen, [Bonz's] eyes were open and blank, with no swirling pupils like the dub gave him for some stupid reason.
- Eee, Pegasus's real voice sounds like he's half singing too!
- Sometimes I wonder if the Millennium Ring is really pointing to other Items or just making rude gestures at Ryou and the others...
- Wow, the dub really makes Pandora seem ignorant and incompetent. If he was really that stupid and careless, Malik wouldn't let him duel on his own. If he would even want him as a Ghoul!
- When Yuugi finished off Pandora's life points, did he take two turns in a row? Because it looked like that. The Dark Magician Girl destroyed the second red Dark Magician, then Yami talked for a while, then she attacked Pandora directly (and for that matter, did her attack raise again when she destroyed another Dark Magician?). Unless the Dark Magician Girl can attack twice in one turn, that's not right!
- When Kaiba was "forcing Yuugi's hand," he took a step back for each 100 life points he lost. Then he stood up there and threatened to kill himself or make Yuugi kill him if he couldn't win. He even yelled that Yuugi should slit his throat with a card!
- ...And Anzu begged Yuugi to become the regular him and not kill Kaiba. And Yuugi never called back the Celtic Guardian's attack, he stopped of his own accord when Yuugi changed back.
- Anzu didn't lecture Kaiba on friendship, she yelled at him about respecting the value of his own life!
- Anzu does the previews for all the episodes... but at least she's not as annoying as "Tea"!
- Yuugi seemed more concerned that he was nothing without Yami, and held the spirit back, than he was with the fact that Kaiba almost died...
- Anzu knows her cards better than the dubbers give her credit for!
- Heh, the Harpy Lady is far more scantily clad than she is in the dub... Her shirt is actually just two vertical straps. ^_^
- And Friendship (no "Shining" about it) was naked in its human/elf form. Looked pretty genderless too! Or at least like a very young girl.
- Kaiba was a lot more on top of Pegasus's strategy, and even his ability, than the dub showed. Though it didn't help him anyway.
- Pegasus thinks of cartoons as his friends. Aw, a man after my own heart! ^_^
- Jounochi was dreaming about his sister, not gigantic doughnuts!
- It's painful to be sealed in a card! Grandpas kept saying how much pain he was in. And Kaiba really DID ask Yuugi to help him! That's gotta be REALLY painful, then!
- Ha! Since Anzu climbed the rope up Pegasus's tower ahead of Honda and Bakura, she made them wear blindfolds so they wouldn't look up her skirt! Modesty's important, but that's dangerous!
- The three soul cards were on crosses, and it looked VERY much like the biblical scene. And there was even a church nearby!
- Pegasus told Bakura to find his own darkness... Right before Yami Bakura came out! Eee, how cool!
- Yuugi was struggling with understanding the existence off "another him" when he dueled Mai, not trying to hold Yami back! Yami was in complete control through the whole thing.
- Hee hee! My subtitles actually had Pegasus call Yuugi "Game Boy!" ^_^
- And it may just be bad subtitles, but "the goddess of victory" is mentioned a lot.
- Pegasus didn't care where Bandit Keith got his entry card (after all, Jounochi never had his own either), he was just scolding Keith for hiding cards under his arm bands.
- Ah, the second box of DVDs has better subtitles, even if they're calling Jounochi "Wheeler." For any of you looking to buy the DVDs, DON'T get the set with Yami Yuugi, Jounochi, and the Black Skull Dragon on the front of the first box unless you're really good at understanding Japanese. They have Chinese subtitles too, but I'm not sure how good they are.
- Hee hee, Pegasus occasionally sticks in a phrase or two of English. It sounds so cute and sing-songy!
- What would Jounochi look like without his hair pushed back?
- Ah, the Ghouls' robes are so cool!
- Couldn't Tea and the others just follow the signs themselves to find Yuugi, even if the arrows pointed in different directions?
- Heh, when Keith's under Malik's control, he has Shadi-ish eyes. ^_^
- Grr, how dare they show reruns and act like they're still new and special?
- GAH!! NO! Not another week of reruns! How horrible! I don’t mind the Rare Hunter duel, but I want a NEW episode for a change!!
