Disclaimer: I own some badly subtitled DVDs, but I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh itself! I make no money from this. I am in no way affiliated with anyone who owns or makes Yu-Gi-Oh. I am not the Yu-Gi-Oh company, and I cannot tell you where to find the Exodia cards. Try ebay.
Yami Seraphim: Ooh, you're a bit late this week... I almost didn't see your review! But that's okay.
Eh, well that's the dubbers for you. "Neo" can also just be a cool, slightly futuristic name. ^_^
No, even the Japanese anime doesn't show the stabbing scene. We'll just see nice innocent Namu (or Terrence...) helping poor hurt Ryou later on...
I don't know, I'm starting to get rather attatched to those Ghouls/Rare Hunters. They're pretty cool. ^_^
Seena: Ah, of course your reviews are worth waiting for! I’m impatient, but as long as you don’t review the second before I post my rants, I’m happy. ^_^
Mwahaha… I will convert the WORLD into Shadi-lovers!!
Heh, I love that… These rants inspire so many fanfics! Including a few of my own! That’s what they’re here for, you know! Aside from their purpose to let me preen over my own greatness… ^_^
I can see those two Ghouls going into comedy… I’d laugh! But then I’m easily amused. *grins*
Hmm, I think they called Kaiba’s fourth dragon “_______ryu.” Which makes sense… It might also be called the Diamond Dragon. A few people said they had one or knew someone who did, but they might not be American versions.
Well I don’t feel too bad about missing Bakura’s appearance. I saw him when the episode repeated yesterday, and I saw the Japanese one too.
Hm, I don’t know, I can see Shadi being against the Pharaoh (possibly, a bit), but I don’t know if he’d team up with Mariku and Bakura to do anything like that. Though he might! That would be interesting!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Yami Bakura and Vejita shared a voice actor… Or at least if Yami Bakura’s voice actor tried to imitate Vejita’s.
Ah, “Whack-a-Mole”… It’s that carnival-ish game where there’s a big box and you get a mallet and mole-heads (or other sorts of heads) pop up out of holes and you have to try to whack them. Er… You’ve probably seen one somewhere. But it looks just like the box-thing that Jounouchi’s Alligator Sword was in.
Hee hee… You know, I didn’t notice any spelling errors in that until you said you didn’t have time to “speel check” it. *grins*
Seashell: Ack, poor you! They’ve been really good episodes! I hope you at least get to see them when they rerun.
Let’s see… I think The Yu-Gi-Oh Episode Domain has some pretty decent episode summaries. Especially of episodes that have already shown in America.
Ah, it’s always fun to make fun of the dub! ^_^ Though I’ll be making fun of the sub too!
Nyartal: Eee, I hope you make some music videos! I can’t even find any, much less make one!
I think the real Polymerization is the one with the orange dragon that’s in Joey Starter decks and such. I love the picture they use in the dub, though.
Yay, I’d been looking for a Penguin Soldier card (it’s Shadi’s favorite, you know ^_^), and now I have a holographic first edition one from Joey’s starter deck! And lots more! …Not that I have more than one person to duel. But when I get my deck finalized, watch out, Seena! ^_^
Yeah, the Ghouls are really pretty cool when you think about it!
Ayrrie: Heh, you don’t have to answer EVERYTHING I say if you don’t have anything to say about it yourself… ^_^
Isn’t it funny how even the weakest monsters are usually described as powerful?
Toby KiKami: Ah, that would be cool if Mako had the missing Exodia cards! ^_^
Maybe the finalists all got to pick a card they wanted. Because Weevil wouldn’t want a Serpent Knight Dragon in his deck! Maybe he got the Great Moth there or something.
Maybe Shadi just meant the purple Dark Magician. Because there’s actually a story behind why he obeys the Pharaoh. In ancient times, the priest Mahado (or something like that) who held the Ring was fighting the thief Bakura for it. They both had their Ka monsters out to fight each other (Bakura’s Diabond and Mahado’s Magician of Illusions). Mahado knew he couldn’t win, so he sealed his own soul/spirit and Ka into his magician, causing it to become the Black Magician tablet. And he swore to protect and serve the Pharaoh forever. Actually, I hear that the red Black Magician is far more common, at least in the anime world.
JaguarKitty2006: Really? Well I can see Yuffie and Anzu having the same voice… Must be an annoying girl thing!
Hee hee, glad you like the Malik icon. It’s so cute! But I think Pegasus’s looks cute, not creepy! The way he’s got his head turned to the side a little… But yeah, they do look kind of like Precious Moments faces. ^_^
I was wondering why Yami just didn’t run past those two Ghouls myself… I mean honor is important, but his friends could have been in danger! The baka just can’t back down from a challenge.
Hmm, I think Takahashi might just draw all little kids similarly. However, the priest who had the Eye was priest Seto’s father. And the Eye-priest looked like Malik’s father… Pretty strange!
Yami Neko: *sighs* I know, I was so disappointed to not see Bakura cutting his arm… Oh well… But they don’t remove all the blood from the anime! When Pegasus got the Eye, his face was full of blood! And when Bakura got the Eye, he licked some off it, didn’t he?
I heard about Bakura wanting the keycard form Mokuba, but I hadn’t heard the specifics of it! Thanks!
Hee hee, maybe if Bakura got all the Items, his hair would not only stick straight up, but separate from his head! That would look creepy!
Heh, that’s a funny idea. ^_^ But actually, did you know that the priest who first held the Eye was priest-Seto’s father? And he looks like Malik’s father, too. I wonder if they’re ALL related…? ^_^
StarryNights: The Ghouls… are pokeable? Okay… But I don‘t think I‘d go so far as to “Mmm“ over them… ^_^
That’s true, season one Yami Yuugi was a LOT meaner than the one we know! He was just plain scary!
Lady Kalan Kaiba of Conte: Heh, and now Three-In-One Combo’s finished! ^_^ I should start typing the prequel soon!
Ah, I see, well that doesn’t help me since I’m nowhere near western Canada, nor do I ever plan to go there… Too cold for me!
Hmm, well I waited to find someone on ebay who would take a check, because I’m afraid of PayPal. But occasionally someone on there will let you pay in cash.
…You mean you’re not going to TELL me!? I want to know what you’re using Ankh and Scale for, though! I guess you can just let me know whenever they show up…
Shenya: Yeah, I only have the first three boxes of DVDs too. Yay! Japanese DVDs to all! ^_^
Hope: Ah, I know you! You’re Bandit Hope form the message boards! I’ve read what you have to say about Keith before. Famous people continue to visit me, I see… ^_^
Keith isn’t one of my favorite characters, but I don’t hate him either. I’m one of those rare Pegasus fans who can sympathize with Keith too. ^_^ I felt bad for Keith a lot of the time, and I think he deserves to be given a chance by more people. I think people look creepy when they’re mind-controlled, so I can’t agree with you there, though! But I was impressed that he broke the Rod’s control! That’s got to take a LOT of strength!
Lori Kimaya: Ack, sorry about that! The more popular this page is, the less people can get to it… And I’m far too cheap to pay for extra bandwidth!
Let’s see… I found a page of voice clips Here. It doesn’t have everyone, but it has some good ones!
Yeah, the dubbers mess up everyone’s character… Yami Yuugi’s actually nicer. And Yami Bakura isn’t evil at all! He just has his own plans! Yami Malik’s definitely evil, though…
Mokuba IS becoming cool! Aw!
Hee hee, badly-voiced people DO sound funny when they’re trying to be dramatic! ^_^
Nope, the Silent Doll doesn’t have a name. Quite a few of the Ghouls don’t seem to!
Meggerz Mouto: Heh heh, well, Yami Bakura took the trouble to lick the blood off of the Eye when he took it…
The Scales ARE pretty severe. I’m glad Shadi has them, because I’d be afraid of what anyone else would do with them.
WHAT!? Are you kidding!? The Ring’s so cool, though! It does a lot! It has the generic “Millennium powers” plus it can put souls in all kinds of cool things! That would be a neat power to have. After the Ankh and Eye, I think I like its powers best.
Actually, the Scales have a real tie to ancient Egypt too. The goddess Ma’at had a set of scales like them, and they worked the same way.
Wingleader Sora Jade: Heh heh, well none of us seem to want to admit to being famous and important… ^_^ I’ll agree that Three-In-One Combo’s great (it’s done now!), but I’m just a normal person too. Well, not really. I’m just a weird person. ^_^
Ah, well I like Pegasus, but I like Kaiba too, so I feel obliged to defend him (this was probably better the first time I typed it!). *grabs the soapbox and gets up on it* You think Seto hasn’t suffered!? Do you know about his past? When he and Mokuba were little, their parents died, forcing them to live in an orphanage. Seto had to defend himself and his brother from bullies all the time. Lots of people wanted to adopt him because he was a genius, but he refused to leave without Mokuba (though why no one wanted Mokuba is a complete mystery). One day the head of Kaibacorp, Gozaburo Kaiba, came looking for a boy to replace his dead son Noa (who will show up again later). Seto beat Gozaburo in a chess game, so he agreed to adopt both boys. Right away he started training Seto to be the CEO of KaibaCorp. In the process he abused Seto constantly, both physically and emotionally. And poor Seto had to go along with whatever he said, because if he didn’t, Mokuba would be in danger. Even as a child, Seto was devoted enough to his brother to endure anything for him. And Seto DID kill Gozaburo. But I think by that point he had been pushed too far. He just wanted to free himself of the pain and suffering, and keep his brother safe once and for all. So he pushed Gozaburo out a window. However, mental defenses as strong as Seto’s had gotten can’t just be torn down overnight. Seto was stuck in his persona. He was completely unable to stop being an arrogant jerk, except around Mokuba, the one person he trusts and feels safe around. And yes, he’s power-hungry. But that’s because he was so powerless in his childhood that he tries to get all the power he can now so that he’ll never have to go through that again. *steps down from the soapbox* That’s all, I’m finished now…
Ah, sorry! I’ve been so busy this week, I didn’t get a chance to e-mail you! And I’m horrible at starting conversations anyway. But if you e-mail me, I’d love to talk to you! ^_^
Anime*2000: I did see Kuriboh when Seto was sacrificing his dragons to Obelisk! Poor little puffball!
I heard that Ryou dies too… But I’m pretty sure he gets brought back. But I don’t think it would be because of Bakura… When Bakura duels Yami Yuugi on the Battle Ship, he’s about to lose so “Malik” (Rishid) makes him push Ryou out into control of the body because he’s sure that Yuugi wouldn’t hurt his friend. Bakura’s not so sure about that though, so he takes over his host’s body again, taking the blast of a direct attack from Osiris to save Ryou… I don’t think Bakura would kill him!
Yeah, Dark Magician Girl probably has a real, human voice! If you were reading above, the Ring’s first holder became the Dark Magician… Well his apprentice became the Dark Magician Girl. So they both have voices in Japan, even if they don’t say much!
Have fun with Ankh! ^_^
Amiasha: No, sorry, the thing about Yuugi eating toast was only a sound clip. ^_^ I gave the URL that has it up in my reply to Lori Kimaya, though.
Ah, Crossover Authoress needed the episode scripts from the Pandora episodes. She’s using his Dark Magician in a fanfic. You don’t know where to find those, do you?
Yeah, I was wrong, Malik’s helmet is real. But I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have it in the manga. Honda does all the time, because he’s a “safe hero-supporter.” Malik’s a “crazy evil villain.” He doesn’t need a helmet. ^_^
Eee, I’m so glad Pegasus comes back in the anime at least! ^_^ I was worried about him for a while!
I knew that Shadi and Joey had the same voice actor (maybe you told me), but I didn’t know it was Meowth’s voice actor too! That guy must be the master of strange voices!
I’m not sure, I think either every Millennium Item has a chosen one, or they just choose whoever comes by that they might like. I’m sure other people have held the Items between the ancient priests and the present-day people.
I don’t know, but I know Bakura sensed Malik’s power. Maybe he counted on Malik to be able to sense his too. And to know how to stop fast! Good thing he wasn’t wrong! ^_^
Hee hee, I think Yami just attracts freaks. ^_^ Maybe it’s his hair! It’s really an antenna that emits some sort of radio waves saying “Duel me! Duel me! Flock to me! Don’t let me pass without dueling me!” ^_^
Crossover Authoress: Yeah, I’m pretty sure that the dubbers will change “Namu,” Malik’s fake name, to “Terrence.” Hmm, “Rashid” means “follower of the right path”? Well, he believes that Malik’s path is right. And so does Malik. And who knows, it might have BEEN right, if his yami hadn’t been around.
Well, it’s Yami Yuugi’s whole memory WORLD, not just his memories. There’s more going on there than just what he saw, and he knows it.
Hee hee, good Yu-Gi-Oh/Final Fantasy VIII comparisons! ^_^ That sounds like an interesting idea!
*nods* Shadi muses are great! Mine’s usually quiet too, but man, when he doesn’t like what I’m doing, he lets me know it! And won’t leave me alone until I fix it! I need to chibify him for my prequel… ^_^
Hee hee, all the yamis are really Saiyans! ^_^
Nameless Person: You think so? Well I’m not attracted to Tea myself, and I certainly don’t think of her body as pretty or sexy, but hey, you’re entitled to your opinion…
Jacob: I don’t work for the Yu-Gi-Oh company, so I can’t help you get Exodia. Sorry. And don’t give out your address on the internet without asking your parents first! You never know what kinds of horrible people could get it!
Yami Nikki: Ah, well I feel better knowing that the Rare Hunter has a name. Or at least a shorter job title. Seeker, huh? Okay.
Well yes, but Scale’s not nice to anyone! He’s lucky we love him anyway! ^_^ *hugs Scale, who tries to get away*
Oh no, Malik wouldn’t crash! There was never a doubt in my mind about that. He’s far too good at everything he does.
You know, I think I read part of “The Origin” before. But when I look for it now, I can’t find it! You changed your author-name, didn’t you?
Kirbygurl: Hee hee, but if Mako saw a nice bunch of fish just lying there, he couldn’t pass them up, could he? The whale won’t miss one or two. ^_^
*shrugs* Well apparently luck works for Joey. Though the Skull Dice and Graceful Dice are good, because they’re gambles, but they can’t hurt you.
Er, not a whole lot for you this week, but I’ll have more in weeks to come, I’m sure.
- New Shonen Jump! Yay! But both covers are exactly the same! *whacks the magazine* Stupid defective thing…
- Hee hee, aw, Honda’s in love with Miho. And she has no interest in him. ^_^ Later on though, she (and most of the other girls) has a crush on Ryou! Because he’s so cute, of course. And he doesn’t like her that way, but he acts as her boyfriend when she asks because he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings.
- The evil pretty/ugly teacher in Shonen Jump looked like Mai…
- Did anyone else notice that in the first “game” in this Shonen Jump, when Yuugi changes to his Yami, Anzu’s looking straight at him?
- Did that guy with the shoe store keep a live scorpion around his neck!? That’s stupid! And mean!
- That whole shoe incident in Shonen Jump just struck me as ridiculous and amazingly funny… But maybe I’m just not used to being stuck in a tire while people run off with my shoes… ^_^
- Yay, Kaiba finally showed up in the manga! ^_^ I can’t wait to see Shadi. And Bakura!
- Heh, Yuugi doesn’t miss much. Though it looked a little obvious to me too when Kaiba switched the cards…
- What’s your favorite manga in Shonen Jump besides Yu-Gi-Oh? I like lots of them… Though DragonballZ isn’t amazingly exciting because I already know all about it.
- Malik explained his intentions… couldn’t Yami Yuugi have done the same? Maybe they could reach some agreement. But oh no, that wouldn’t be exciting enough…
- Silent Doll was pretty short. Almost as short as Yuugi and Mokuba!
- Rrg, my DVDs’ subtitles use the dub names! Like Tea! Or even “Gardener” sometimes. And they call Jonouchi “Wheeler” and stuff like that. Luckily I can understand the names and a few words here and there!
- Ha, and my DVDs call the Millennium Rod some pretty strange things… The Millennium Staff, Cane, Wand, Stick, and even Tin Stick! ALL WILL COWER before the mighty Millennium Tin Stick! *snickers*
- They get a lot of monster names wrong too, but again, I can hear what the real names are.
- Hee hee, Mako’s so silly. ^_^ I like him, he’s fun. And his speech patterns are so formal (in the dub anyway)! It’s great!
- I wonder if that killer whale jumping around would mess up the holograms…
- Did you know that the “Monster Reborn” card really looks like a glowing green ankh? I guess it’s just too much religious symbolism for the American translators.
- Ryou’s Japanese voice is cute but creepy… I haven’t heard much of his Japanese voice, but at the moment I almost like the dub voice better! *shivers* That just sounds so WRONG to say!
- The Reaper of the Cards has a very feminine voice in Japan… ^_^ There’s no reason it couldn’t be a female under those robes, though!
- Aw, the two Ghouls should have gone on with their rock paper scissors game for a bit longer! I would have been interested to see who finally won, if either of them did! Though I guess Yami Yuugi and Kaiba don’t share my interest. Ah, how sad! ^_^
- Hee hee, there’s always a sudden strong breeze when someone challenges an opponent or plays a good card dramatically…
- Look at those perfect, neat hieroglyphics on Rishid’s (Odion’s) face… Did you know that he carved those himself? Do you realize how HARD that would be!? And yet they’re perfectly formed. That’s impressive.
- In the Virtual World episodes, Joey kept calling Giltia the “fierce knight.” That’s Gaia, you fool! Giltia is either a dark knight or a dragon knight.
- Yes, yes, “the ocean hides many things.” We know.
- If Joey wanted to make a fusion monster, he should at least have made a strong one…
- Ooh, the Legendary Fisherman is cool! And look at those yellow eyes!
- That thing Mako made for his father looked more like a grave…
- Eee, Bakura’s going to duel for Malik! That’ll be so cool. I haven’t seen it yet, but it sounds like such a great duel!
- Bakura seems very confident that he can win!
- I was afraid that Malik’s ultimate coolness would make even Bakura seem less cool. But I don’t think it has!
- Ack, I think Yami Bakura’s voice is getting worse…
- Mako really thinks of his Legendary Fisherman as his father. The card doesn’t just remind him of his father.
- A reality check from Joey? There’s a surprise. ^_^
- Yeep, that last shot of Malik laughing was slightly disturbing.
