Author’s Notes: Ooh, the twentieth rant! Wow, this has been around for a while. It’s still fun. ^_^ And there’s another new episode this weekend. That‘s always good! I don‘t have an overabundance of rants today, but there are still a few.

Shadi: Indigo does not own Yu-Gi-Oh or make any money from this. Or anything else at the moment.

Rantings of a Rabid Yu-Gi-Oh Fan: 20

silentartist04: Ah, I wasn’t watching for it, but you’re probably right about the dubbers covering up the Dark Magician Girl. ^_^ They do that to a few female cards!

Yami Seraphim: Yeah, Malik rules! I know, Yami Bakura had better hurry up and come back as a big part of the show, or he may lose his place as the ultimate in coolness to Malik…
Osiris IS cool when it’s summoned! I can’t wait to se Ra summoned!
Well, I know ancient Egyptians wore a lot of gold (rich ones, anyway). And Malik, Isis, and Shadi all have strong connections to ancient times.

Toby KiKami: Ah, you’ve got a good point about the Labyrinth Tank. If machine monsters are really immune to magic attacks, the Dark Magician shouldn’t have beaten it. I sometimes wonder how many of these rules the dubbers or even original animators make up just to make things more interesting at the moment…
Giltia the Knight reminds me a lot of the Celtic Guardian, and a bit of the Dark Magician too. I like him a lot. ^_^
Oh, I noticed that there were only three Magical Hats when Yuugi hid the Dark Magician Girl in them. That’s because he played them just before the attack was declared, so one was destroyed.
Well, Weevil made sure that he’d never have to worry about Exodia again, so he doesn’t need to include that among the cards that could beat the Insect Queen!
Heh, seeing just the legs when Yuugi got Suijin was interesting. ^_^ I have that card in Forbidden Memories, and I like it very much.
Yeah, I know that “Rex” means “king” in either Greek or Latin. The show took it form “Tyrannosaurous Rex,” which translates literally into “Tyrant lizard king.”
I noticed that Joey kissed his Red-Eyes Black Dragon card. That didn’t seem all that strange to me, though. He believes in the Heart of the Cards, and really appreciates and has grown attached to that card. I might not kiss my cards, but I’d praise them lavishly and maybe rub them against my cheek or something. It’s just appreciation. ^_^

Jessie: I know, I heard that Eric Stuart (the guy who does voices for James, Brock, Seto, Pegasus, etc.) is the voice director for Yu-Gi-Oh! So HE’S to blame for Malik’s horrible voice, and others too! We should set the rabid fangirls after them to tear them up. ^_^
Glad you like my rants! ^_^ And of course, by now we know that they’re calling him “Maric,” which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t pronounce it “Merrick”… Oh well. It’s better than Terrence. What backwards place do you live in, that they’d cancel Yu-Gi-Oh?

The Happy Meeper: Do I know you? ^_^ Meep! Ylime! Mlerg! Other funness! Yay! Glad you like my rants!

Yugi Deck User: I think Pandora’s Dark Magician was more afraid of him than annoyed…
No one notices that Yuugi changes when he duels because they’re all FOOLS (except for Ryou and certain opponents). I mean really, you’d think they’d notice when Yuugi suddenly gets taller and confident all of a sudden… But no, they’re just stupid. ^_^ And I agree, his voice is annoying! So smug… And it’s a powerful voice, though even that voice is no match for the pure power that Malik oozes! Even his horrible voice doesn‘t stop him from being the most powerful person around.
I used to watch Mucha Lucha, but only when it was on right before Yu-Gi-Oh and I had nothing else to do. It was quite a stupid show, I thought…

Lady Yami: I know, I’m so glad they didn’t make poor Malik “Terrence”! That would have been much worse…
I knew about most of those voices… I never thought about Yami and Mewtwo, though! You’re right, they at least sound similar.

Ayrrie: Ah good, you found how to separate lines! ^_^ Thanks, that makes it a lot easier to read.
Heh… Last year two of my friends were playing racquetball and one of them hit the ball into the other’s eye. He had to go to the hospital, and now that pupil won’t dilate (get bigger and smaller). He has to wear sunglasses in brightish light. But I imagine it was very painful. He makes me think of Pegasus now. But the guy who did it isn’t a bit like Shadi. ^_^
Well if I didn’t know anything about my past, I’d like to know too.
Hmm, I don’t know if I can see Yami losing to Joey… Not that he’d lose to anyone of course, but if he did, I think it would be to someone like Malik or at least Seto. OOH, imagine that! Yami Yuugi “losing to the likes of Kaiba.” Heh, that would be funny to make him eat his words like that.
*sigh* I know, Tea will come back in full force… How sad. But the dub IS set in America, because when Isis got off the plane, they welcomed her “to America.” Baka dubbers…
Well, they showed a shot of Isis thinking to herself that her brother could be saved, but he would have to lose to the Pharaoh. So if he can be saved, he’s obviously got goodness in him! So HA, dubbers and Malik-haters!!!
I guess they could have combined Exodia into one card, but I don’t think it would be a good idea. That would make it far too easy to use. Unless they gave it some impossibly high playing cost.
Well, Joey and Mako lost when they used the Heart of the Cards because they were dueling Yuugi. No one wins against him. But since Joey’s Yuugi’s best friend, he isn’t likely to lose very often to other people.
Heh, don’t you love those obvious warnings? Like “Caution: Will be hot when heated.”
Actually, it’s more likely that “Strings” isn’t used to talking. He’s a mime, after all. And when you haven’t talked in a while, it’s hard to start again!
Hmm, well Bandit Keith’s cross is on a necklace. It’s being respected and used the way religious people like, even if he’s not a nice guy. The ones crucifying the Dark Magician and those soul cards were slightly more disturbing to religious fanatics. ^_^

Maiden of the Moon: Ack, you missed some good stuff then! Hopefully it’ll rerun soon. Yeah, they got to the part where Seto came to watch the duel.
Well at least they showed two episodes in one day! Remember when Yuugi dueled Pegasus? I thought I’d die of suspense! And that was FIVE episodes! PLUS they left the Dark Magician trapped in Relinquished for a whole WEEK!

Seena: Yes, I thought I made it very clear right away that the “key” was just what they called the Ankh in the dub! I get the feeling that the person didn’t even get through reading the first note, much less the first chapter. What a fool!
Hmm, I don’t know if it would be good to risk the Rod trying to cut Yuugi’s hair off, Mariku! The Rod’s knife might break off… Don’t ruin your Sennen Item just to give the Pharaoh a haircut. ^_^ You’ll get to rip up his card, don’t worry!
Yeah, Mokuba should have run off with the star chips… It wouldn’t have done him much good anyway, but then he probably wouldn’t be any worse off than he was after he was recaptured anyway!
Yeah, I think the Pharaoh probably needs all of the Items and God Cards to get his memories back. Does he ever have them all? I know at least at the current point in the manga, he doesn’t own the Ankh and Scales (that’s a relief!). And Yami Bakura gave him the Eye, but he took back the Ring. Hmm…
I don’t know if Yami Yuugi needs more sleep, he just needs to relax his forehead a little! I mean, he’s not going to defeat anybody by glaring at them so much! Heh heh… ^_^
Ah, you’ll have your revenge in the end though, Mariku…
Well I think eight’s pretty late to get up too, but you’d be surprised how many bakas think that even noon is early on a weekend!
But you know, if Jounouchi had been beaten again by Seto, his friends just would have comforted him, telling him that he was the better duelist because of his great heart, or his sister, or his friends or something like that. And his ego would rise again. Blah…
Eep, I wasn’t blaming you, Mariku! I just said that he looked like he needed sleep, not that it was your fault! Don’t get so defensive!
Ooh, you have Ra? That’s so cool! ^_^

Amiasha: I know! I’m glad I always watch both episodes to try to get more to rant about anyway, because otherwise I would have missed it!
Well when Honda and Otogi were fighting, they fell off and Honda caught Otogi with one hand and the railing with the other hand. But he couldn’t pull them both up. So it was a good thing that Shadi showed up when he did! So nyaa to any fools who think of Shadi as a bad guy!
You’re right, Yami WAS getting a bit depressed over doing so badly against Malik. Hmm, it might spawn some fics, but probably only nasty bondage ones…

Yami Nikki: Well most of the Ghouls don’t seem to be the most attractive or well-adjusted people I’ve ever seen, but I don’t know if it’s THAT bad!
Malik, a rabid monkey…? Hmm… I might not have been watching close enough, but his face hasn’t started its strange stretching yet, has it? That’ll happen when his yami comes out. THAT is disturbing…
Hmm, I didn’t notice Mokuba being especially rude… Oh, but you should see him in the first season, though! I hear he’s a complete evil brat!
Ankh: Thank you! ^_^
Scale: *whacks her* Call ME a git head, will you…

Crossover Authoress: Ah, okay. I should have known that… And I’ve only seen a few pictures, but I don’t remember Trunks’s clothes being THAT horrible.
Oh I think they’re stupid in the Japanese version too. Not THAT much, but they still are. ^_^
I think if you were destined to have a Millennium Item, an allergy to gold wouldn’t matter too much. They’re not just ordinary gold, after all. On the other hand, that would be pretty horrible, especially for Pegasus! Ack…
Ah, I learn more Japanese with every anime I see. ^_^ And even more when it’s subtitled. I watched the whole Slayers series subtitled, and learned a whole lot from it!
I don’t know, it would be interesting for the other yamis to separate from their hosts!
I have no idea what flavor that Revival jam was supposed to be… It was such a strange color! Blueberry-mint, maybe? Bleh, that sounds nasty…
Ah, you’re right about that ring! Did you know that the priest who held the Millennium Ring at first made his Ka (spirit energy-monster) into the Dark Magician tablet, to protect and serve the Pharaoh? Pretty cool, huh?
Oh you can get the God Cards on ebay, or probably a lot of other places too.

Anime*2000: Hmm, good point about names… “Yami Yuugi” means “Dark Game.” The word for shadow is “Kage,” though.
Well yeah, but Yuugi calls EVERYONE a coward. Just having a defensive strategy doesn’t make you a coward. And dueling THROUGH someone else isn’t cowardly, it’s smart… Malik didn’t want to get mind-crushed! Besides, he wasn’t even in Domino City yet.
I don’t know, I think “Silent Doll” at least sounds creepy. “Strings” just sounds like a puppet. And while he IS that, he’s also a mime! Silent!
Oh I think they’ll keep going with Yu-Gi-Oh as long as they can… And on that note, Pokemon will never end. It’s still going on in Japan, and last time I checked, Japan was two to five seasons ahead of us in Pokemon. ^_^
A Mary-Sue is a perfect original character, often with a tragic past, who can beat anyone else although she may seem weak. She and the authoress’s love interest fall madly in love immediately and get together after some sort of conflict. With much kissing and snuggling, often leading to more… involved things. If they should ever die, then the bishonen of choice must pine for her and kill himself soon after so they can be happy together eternally. Those annoy me. A female original character isn’t like that, though they can sometimes still fall in love with a hot guy.
I don’t know, there are so many cards in Duel Monsters that I wouldn’t expect even Pegasus to remember them all.

And now me…

- Ironic that when Pegasus described the ancient Shadow games, it showed a clip of his own defeat…

- When Yuugi talked about talked about the national champion early in the series, Tea asked if he meant Kaiba. No Tea, the OTHER champion…

- Yuugi said that the Dark Magician was one of the strongest magic cards in the game. It’s not a magic card!

- Did Pegasus build that castle just for Duelist Kingdom?

- When Yami doubted himself trying to draw the Black Luster Ritual card against Mai, he almost decided to give up because he didn’t trust himself to be able to save everyone. But if he gave up, there goes ANY chance they had!

- They’re calling the Yuugi vs. “strings” episodes “Return of the Pharaoh.” But just one God Card won’t make him return!

- The Black Luster Soldier has a very animalistic, or even demonic, voice.

- What if a duelist was just a hesitant person, and let his or her hand hover over the deck before drawing? Hopefully that wouldn’t be taken as a forfeit.

- In the original version, when did Yami realize that he was the Pharaoh? Because I got the feeling that he was told too early in the dub.

- You know, it would be disturbing to see your own tomb. I assume Yami never will!

- Ooh, Bakura’s shirt’s starting to flare out like Kaiba’s and Yami’s now.

- Hmm, the Silent Doll had a different Polymerization card. I like the old one with dragons better.

- Yami Yuugi likes to state the obvious… I’m sure Malik knows how his own mind-slave’s cards work!

- Grr… How dare they replace Yu-Gi-Oh with a mere PREVIEW for Pokemon!? I’d rather have a rerun of Yu-Gi-Oh!

- After today, there are twelve more episodes before the dub’s badly-placed season break. Just so you know.

- I think Malik’s voice is getting slightly better. Slightly.

- Hmm, Seto and Mokuba’s eyes looked strange at certain points during the episode…

- Heh, good thing all those cards didn’t fall out of the Silent Doll’s hand! Until the end, at least.

- I like Malik’s crazy, bloodthirsty grin. Even if it’s kind of scary. ^_^

- Mokuba was starting to sound older, but now he sounds young again. Or maybe he’s just talking more.

- See, stupid commercial-makers!? There’s more than one way to win. You don’t just have to blast away at life points.

- Even after all the cards he’s drawn, Silent Doll’s deck never looks smaller until Malik thinks about it! See, if he hadn’t noticed, he would have been fine…

- *sigh* Too bad you HAVE to use any special abilities your cards have…

- Aw, Mokuba was actually nice to Silent Doll! Almost encouraging!

- Kaiba really doesn’t get it! As if being the best duelist matters compared to everything else going on.

- Heh, if Malik took control of Honda, he could make him poke Yami with his hair! ^_^

- So they’re just going to leave Silent Doll lying face-down on the ground? That’s not very nice of them. Kaiba wouldn’t help, and Yami was in a hurry to find his friends, but I hoped Mokuba would at least poke him to see if he was alive…

- Does anyone know where to find a voice clip of Malik? I really want to hear his Japanese voice. I know I'll get to see/hear him in a couple weeks, but I want to hear him now! So if anyone out there has a good sound/movie clip of Malik, please let me know! Thanks!
