Author’s Notes: Nothing to say this week. I guess we’re back to the slowness of a single new episode each week, huh? That means not too many rants for the week. *sigh*

Kazuki Takahashi: I own Yu-Gi-Oh!

Rantings of a Rabid Yu-Gi-Oh Fan: 16

Okay, “the Silent One” is another of Malik’s people who will be called “Strings” (I think his real name is the Silent Doll), not Rishid. Sorry about that. I’m interested to see what he’s like now.

Lori Kimaya: They do make Yami Bakura talk a lot. He’s not that talkative in the Japanese version.
I’m still not sure whether to laugh my head off or go hunting dubbers about those “dark energy disks”…
The red Dark Magician is a real card! I think Ayrrie has a few of them. I’d like one too!
I don’t know why Yugi didn’t get Pandora’s Dark Magician! He should have! That’s the way Battle City works. I think Pandora owes him a Dark Magician. If he’s even still alive… I know the dubbers made him groan and all, but they did that to Pegasus too… And I think he really died…

Nyartal: Hmm, now I’m getting some disturbing mental images of Yami Malik and his tongue…
Well I’m pretty sure the original deals with the Shadow Realm too… Just in a different way. They don’t use it as a substitute for all death and injury, at least!
Ooh, “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” used to be a cartoon too. I don’t think I ever watched it, though.
Maybe Yugi didn’t take Pandora’s Dark Magician because the card was cut up, or maybe because Pandora was either damaged or dead, but I still think he should have…
If you’re looking for Turns 10 and 11 and don’t want to mess with ebay, I’ve seen them at animeniacs.com.

Yami Seraphim: Hmm, they changed the pictures on the dice? I didn’t notice…
Ha, Duke/Otogi DOES look kind of like a punk singer. ^_^
I agree, Bakura was so cool in ancient Egypt! If you wanted to print the manga pictures, but not use them for a website, I don’t see why that webmistress would care. Usually that’s all about using something as your own, and no one cares if you just put it on your wall and drool over it.

Jessi: Ah, okay. What does Curse-Breaker do? I haven’t seen it.
Actually, I haven’t played Eternal Duelist’s Soul. I just have Forbidden Memories. But thanks for the information! The names Umbra and Lumis mean dark and light in Latin (I think). Are they in the anime too? And the Shadi in Forbidden Memories looks more like season 1 Shadi than the one we’re familiar with. If you’ve seen pictures of the way they look anywhere online, let me know!

Avalon: Well, none of the other duelists are ever formally introduced to Yami, so they wouldn’t know that he was called “Yugioh” in the past. On the same note, I doubt that most little American viewers know what it even means…
Ah, why do you think I put Shadi in the background? JUST to stare at YOU.
I’m not quite sure about that winning a Millennium Item thing… Because plenty are just given or inherited. I guess the rules could be different when a guardian is involved, because Yugi, Bakura, Malik, Isis, Pegasus, and probably Shadi didn’t win their first Items. They were given to them or they inherited them. Maybe it either has to be a willing gift or it has to be won? I don’t know.
You know, adding “of DOOM” after anything makes it sound more impressive. Take office supplies. The paperclip… of DOOM! Or death. Or something else fun.

MaidenoftheMoon: Oh yes, the Pandora episodes were horribly mangled and edited. I laughed all morning.
I don’t remember Yami saying “lover” at any time, though. When did he say that?
My Shonen Jump hasn’t come yet either… I’m starting to worry!

Schala85: I read your story! It was good. But FF.N’s not letting anyone review until Sunday, so I couldn’t do that…

Toby KiKami: Well if your master plan was being thwarted by the weakest monster you can think of, I would think you’d be saying bad things about that monster too.
I love it when the monsters get expressions! The Lady of Faith’s was kind of “What’s going on!?” while the red Dark Magician’s was more “What’s he going to do to me?” And then there’s Kuriboh’s “I’ll eat you alive!!”
I know, how dare they take away the Dark Magician’s free will!?
Of course they had to change the cross to stop the dumb Christians from protesting too much (I can say that because I was brought up Christian and know how stupid people can be!). Bakas… And I won’t go into the saws again, though that was just idiotic…

Kirbygurl: I think “Odion” sounds like a combination of Odin (the Norse god) and odor… I can’t believe they did that to Rishid. He’s so cool!
Yep, that card still looked like a cross, even if the hologram looked like a… slab.
But yeah, those “dark energy disks” were really saw blades ready to saw off their legs. I’ve never seen so much horrible editing.

Yami Mariko: Oh I think Yami Yugi can be cool sometimes… But I’d easily choose Yami Bakura over him. And Yami Malik, while quite scary and evil, seems cooler than him too. But congratulations, Yami Yugi‘s yours! ^_^
Oh by Ra, I got so mad at those “dark energy disks”. And the cross-slab-thing.
Heh, “Arkana” DOES sound like a Pokemon. ^_^

Seena: Huh, I thought Rishid’s eyes were almost gold-orange like season 1 Shadi’s at first. But they get yellower every time I look, so maybe by the next time he shows up they’ll be green. I was looking at the part where he was talking to Mariku, not the opening song. But as you know, I can‘t be trusted to see peoples‘ real eye colors. ^_^
Actually, when Yami Yuugi stepped into that Mystic Box, I was expecting swords to start going through it! I know he’d come out without a scratch, but it would have been a nice touch.
I don’t know if the anime-butchers could have taken out the saw blades completely. But I thought what they did with them was pretty silly.
Mmm, no, they got the Black Magician Girl’s points right I think. It looked to me like the hand with the Magician of Black Chaos Pandora discarded was removed from the game, not just sent to the graveyard. I may be wrong, though.
*cringes away from Mariku*
But on the other hand, what about people giving Items to others? Like Shadi or the Ishtars’ parents? Are the rules different for Guardians? Maybe Shadi isn’t a good example, but did Mariku’s father use the Rod at all before Mariku got it?

Nano*Mecka: I agree, what’s the point of changing Rishid’s name? There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s no less familiar to Americans than… Odion. Bleh.

Crossover Authoress: Heh heh, lots of people think Shadi’s eyes are creepy. ^_^ That’s okay, I think they’re cool anyway.
Well, “arcane” is a word for magical stuff. So that’s probably what they took “Arkana” from.
Heh, now we just need a Dark Magician who looks like Bakura… That would be so cool!
I think the Mystical Elf’s real name is Holy Elf. So they might have slipped and called her that once. But I wouldn’t think so, because of their dislike of religious themes. And yet they kept “god cards”…
Oh it’d be so cool if they would put Monster World or Monster Capsule into the series we’re getting. I’d love to see what Monster World’s like, and I barely know anything about Monster Capsule.
Oh, at that spot, Malik wasn’t doing anything. He was standing perfectly still, glaring. Not laughing.

Anime*2000: Oh I’d be very surprised if the monsters couldn’t hear and understand everything going on around them. Especially when they’re really out there as holograms.
Well, the difference is that parents can tell their kids that the Shadow Realm isn’t real. While saws cutting your legs off definitely ARE.
When both Dark Magicians were standing behind the Dark Magician Girl, the red one looked especially mean because he was getting back at his master, who apparently “controlled him by fear”.
I’m pretty sure Shadi either has black hair or is bald.

JaguarKitty2006: I really don’t know why the dubbers changed that… Why can’t they let the Dark Magician be a more real, protective, free-willed being? I just don’t understand why they change some things.
They probably didn’t show us the whole duel with Kaiba and that other guy. I’m sure he did it the right way, we just didn’t get to see.
Heh, Yami can’t back down from any hint of a challenge. That’ll be his downfall one day. Or not, because he’s destined to win EVERYTHING…
Malik’s a year or two older than Yugi, but he still shouldn’t sound about 20 years older!
Oh no, it wasn’t Rishid Malik was calling his mind-slave. I was wrong. But Malik and Rishid are friends. Rishid is the only one of Malik’s team who ISN’T a mind slave.

- A few rants ago, I mentioned a song that was perfect for all the yamis and maybe a bit for Malik and Shadi too ("Karma Slave" by Splashdown). If you want to hear it, go here to somebody’s weblog and if you scroll down a bit, it’s in the left column where it says “The title” in bold. Click on the word “song” to hear it. If you can’t play mp3s for whatever reason, the lyrics are here, though it doesn’t give you the same effect.

- Heh, Yuugi blushed at Otogi’s advertising lady. Jealous much, Tea?

- Whoa, did Joey call Otogi “bony butt”?

- I can’t say I like Otogi’s attitude at first. Though he was pretty mad that Yuugi beat Pegasus.

- Otogi called Joey “Joey-boy”? Heh, he’s been hanging around Pegasus too much.

- Wow, Otogi was really horrible first. I never realized how mean he was to Joey. I wonder why…? Joey never did anything to him.

- RRG!! NOOOOOOOOOOO! I taped the wrong channel! I am eternally cursed never to see the second Dungeon Dice Monsters episode!

- Yami Bakura will return in the episode after Joey beats Weevil (c’mon, you know he will). Rejoice! ^_^

- Why did Joey go along with Otogi and his cheerleaders so much? He said he’d do whatever Otogi said, but not the cheerleaders and there were plenty of times that he didn’t have to be so dog-like.

- Heh, too bad Ryou wasn’t there to explain the rules of Dungeon Dice Monsters to Honda and Tea. Even if he didn’t know anything about it, he would understand faster than THOSE two.

- Ooh, Malik should have taken over Pandora’s Dark Magician to talk to Yuugi. That would have been cool.

- Yami Yuugi looked scary when he was talking about how the Dark Curtain worked for him against Pandora.

- I wonder why Yuugi decided to call his spirit “Yami” instead of “Pharaoh” or “Yugioh”…

- Malik oozes so much power, he can even make Seto Kaiba seem like a trivial character who couldn’t stand against him. Listen to the way he talks about him! It’s impressive.

- Malik’s earrings look like the Millennium Ring’s spikes.

- The Witch of the Black Forest sounds a lot older than she looks.

- Oh, I saw that “Strings” guy! He’s creepy!

- Ha, Joey has fans. That’s funny. And they steal from him, that’s even funnier. ^_^

- Heh, that’s a funny description of Weevil. Bug eyes and a head like a blue beetle?

- That little boy who ran into Serenity’s room sounded JUST like Ash from Pokemon. But then his voice suddenly changed after the commercial break.

- Heh, Tea’s hair got all fluffed out when Weevil talked to her. ^_^

- Ooh, I like Weevil’s preying mantis monster.

- Tea thought Weevil’s pink leech-thing that attached to Jinzo was disgusting, but I thought it was cute!

- Is it against the rules to put a card into someone else’s deck? Maybe it’s an invasion of privacy, but I can’t see it being against a specific rule.

- Weevil must really be slipping to put his Cocoon of Evolution in attack mode. That was a good trap card he used to protect it, though.

- That Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth is a great card!

- Okay, if anyone knows where to get a good, detailed description of what Shadi does in Battle City (episode 85), I really need it. Fast. I can’t find any episode guides that talk about it, and the postal service is laughing in my face…

Endnote: Don‘t forget, wherever you want a paragraph break, with a clear line in between, type this < P> but without the space. Or if you just want to start typing on the next line without a line in between, type < BR> but again without the space. That would make things infinitely easier on me, thank you. And if you can help me with the information about Shadi in Battle City, anything would be very useful! Thanks!
